Sex roulette parties have become an overwhelming trend in countries like Serbia and Barcelona and the U.S could be next on the list. So what exactly is a sex roulette party? Well, its an extreme sex party with a twist. At these parties, attendees participate in unprotected sexual intercourse, while one anonymous member has HIV.
The “thrill” of these parties come from knowing that it is possible to be infected. According to Dr. Josep Malloias of Hospital Clinic Barcelona, there are different variations of the party that he is aware of. He says “there is everything: sex roulette parties, or sex parties where you can only attend if you already have HIV.” Dr. Malloias also talk about “blue” parties where attendees take anti-viral medication to cut down the risk.
This trend is said to have originated in Serbia among the wealthy. Tijana, a Serbian stripper, informed reports that the parties were originally “named Serbian sex roulette, after Russian roulette.” She also revealed that it is common for party goers to wear masks and most of them are organized by rich people for other rich people.
In a report, Dr. Josep Malloias states that he believes these parties are a sign that people have “lost respect” for HIV. There are concerns that the practice of these parties are migrating to other countries and America is definitely one that’s on the radar. There are even people saying that Americans may have already started throwing these parties, but because of their discrete nature, we may be unaware.
