Not long after being drafted by the New York Giants in the 6th round, cornerback, Corey Baellentine was shot. Baellentie’s injuries are non-life-threatening. His college teammate, Dwane Simmons was also shot and died from his injuries. The shooting happened in Topeka, Kansas, early Sunday.

Washburn University posted about the lost of Simmons.

Hours before the shooting, Baellentine posted on Instagram about being drafted. He is the first person in over 10 years to be drafted from Washburn University.

 

No arrest has been made in the shooting yet. More details to follow soon.
