Philadelphia Freddie Gray Protest

Mark Makela

The public has been exposed to a tragic incident that happened in Central Park, New York in 2002. This Netflix docuseries ‘When They See Us’ has painted the #CentralParkFive ‘s case in a new light and from their perspective.

In essence, the black community has raised a number of questions, especially to one woman in particular who played a major role in stripping these teenagers of their freedom. #LindaFairstein was the head of the Manhattan District Attorney’s sex crimes unit during the Central Park investigation. She prosecuted these young men, ultimately sending them to jail and they were innocent.

Now that the truth has been exposed, she resigned from the Vassar College board of trustees, the board of directors for Safe Horizon and even deleted her social media accounts. For those who may not know, Ms. Fairstein was an author and New York Times Best Seller! #LindaFairstein told the chair of the board at Vassar that she felt her presence would be harmful for the university.

We are happy to see that justice has been served and we look forward to the other conversations that will take place after this documentary.
