Former Mexican kingpin Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman has been sentenced to spend the rest of his life in prison by a federal judge. El Chapo was given a life sentence plus 30 years by a judge in a Brooklyn courtroom after being convicted of 10 charges that he has been fighting since February.

Chapo has also been ordered to forgeit $12.6 Billion to the government. This sentence comes after being found guilty of engaging in a continuing criminal enterprise, continuing criminal enterprise, conspiracy to launder narcotics proceeds, international distribution of cocaine, heroin, marijuana and other drugs and use of firearms.

The trial lasted for almost three months and jury members sat through over 200 hours of testimony about Chapo’s life and even an how he allegedly attempted to bribe the former Mexican president for $100 million.

Reports say that Chapo looked stunned when the verdict was read and gave his wife Emma two thumbs up as he left the courtroom.
