Incarcerated rapper Lil Wayne will escape further jail time after reportedly striking a deal with U.S. prosecutors and pleading guilty to a 2008 drugs charge, according to a new report.

The Lollipop hit-maker is currently serving 12 months behind bars at New York’s Rikers Island prison, after he was convicted of illegal weapons possession in an earlier case. The rapper – real name Dwayne Carter – has also been embroiled in another legal case, stemming from a 2008 incident when authorities allegedly found cocaine, ecstasy and a handgun on his tour bus at a border checkpoint in Dateland, Arizona.

He was arrested and pleaded not guilty to a string of weapons and drugs charges, but is now said to have agreed a deal with Arizona officials in Yuma County Superior Court after appearing via a live video feed on Friday. Lil Wayne reportedly entered a guilty plea to one count of possession of a dangerous drug, and now faces 36 months probation, which is slated to begin once his current sentence in New York ends.
