It was packed funeral for the little boy who was gunned down in an alley by his grandparents house.

The murder of a 9-year-old Chicago boy has brought attention to the ongoing issue of violence within the city. Yesterday, a funeral was held for Tyshawn Lee, who was shot and killed in an alley while en route to his grandmother’s house on the South Side of Chicago. “A baby was executed. We have gone to a new low that’s removed what used to be some codes, some barriers, some lines that used to be drawn in the community, some things in our city that were not acceptable,” said Rev. Michael Pfleger during his remarks at the funeral. “Our children have a right to walk our streets. Our children have a right to play in the park. Our children have a right to sit on their porch. Our children have a right to expect to be safe wherever they are in the city of Chicago. Our children deserve that. Tyshawn was doing what every child has a right to do: be a child.” Hundreds of people attended the funeral, including U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, entertainer Nick Cannon, and Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel. University of Missouri Professor Who Pushed Journalist during Protest Has Quit

After the video of a University of Missouri professor pushing a journalist away from a public protest at the institution went viral, the educator has decided to step down from her position. Melissa Click, who served as an assistant professor in the communications department, was granted a “courtesy appointment” by the school, where she would sit on review panels for student theses, but decided to cut her ties altogether with the institution. “I regret the language and strategies I used, and sincerely apologize to the M.U. campus community, and journalists at large, for my behavior, and also for the way my actions have shifted attention away from the students’ campaign for justice,” said Click in a statement. She also personally reached out to the journalist in the video to apologize. Read more.
