One of 2015’s greatest gifts is seeing Tracy Morgan return to the stage after his near-fatal car accident last year. He fought brain injury, relearned how to walk and overcome the grief after learning his friend James McNair died in the accident.
Morgan’s triumph was recognized by Barbara Walters, who included him in her yearly 10 Most Fascinating People special. In the interview, Morgan recalls being blind for a week after waking from his coma, being forced to watch the Saturday Night Live 40th anniversary special from his home and his purpose after escaping death.
“I survived that crash for a reason. I’m still here for a reason. I guess my room wasn’t ready,” he says. “Who knows? Maybe he kept me here to raise my daughter, to raise my family.”
