Rihanna’s critically acclaimed album “Anti” was nominated for 8 Grammys last night. Many industry insiders believed that the album would walk away with at least 4 wins at the end of the night. By the time the awards were over RiRi was empty handed and unable to claim victory in any of the categorizes that she was nominated in. Even though “Work” was the most streamed song in 2016, Rih was completely left in the dark.
Nominated for 7 awards and not winning one is a record in the Grammy history books. This is the first time that a female artist has been nominated for so many awards and not won any. The record was previously set by India Arie who received seven nominations for her “ACoustic Soul” album.
Kanye West’s “Life of Pablo” was also nominated for 8 awards and he also left the show without a victory.
