The girlfriend of Philando Castile, Diamond Reynolds, has reportedly reached a settlement with two cities for $800,000. This comes after Diamond and her daughter were present in the vehicle during the events that resulted in the death of Philando. St. Anthony’s Mayor, Jerry Faust said, “This settlement resolves all civil litigation stemming from the incidents on July 6, 2016, and opens the door to continued healing within our community.”
Out of the $800K St. Anthony Police Department is responsible for $675K, because the officer who shot Mr. Castile was a part of their unit. The remainder of the allotted amount will be paid by an insurance trust on the behalf of Roseville.
Although no amount of money can truly alleviate the pain caused by this incident we are happy to see that Diamond and her daughter were able to receive something.
