Our Thursday nights are going to be different since ‘Scandal’ end last spring but you can go to Broadway to see Kerry Washington. Washington along with several of her celebrity friends, Shonda Rhimes, Gabrielle Union, Dwyane Wade, Jada Pinkett Smith, Steve Stoute, and Washington’s husband, Nnamdi Asomugha, have signed up to be producers for American Son. The play wrestles with race and law enforcement in America.

American Son stars  Washington and Steven Pasquale as an estranged parents who are forced to come together to find out what happened to their teenage son after he’s detained by police. Set in a Florida police station, this four person drama will deal with many issues that have taken over the news in the past few years.

Award-winning playwright Christopher Demos-Brown wrote the play American Son won rave reviews when premiered in 2016. The play earnned Demos-Brown the 2016 Laurents/Hatcher Award for best new work by an emerging playwright. You will be able to see it on Broadway starting November 4, running for 16 weeks at the Booth Theatre in New York City. Get ready for a great show.
