Wimbledon is shaping up to be interesting this year, with two highly favored and successful players already ousted during the first round. Second seed, Naomi Osaka, was eliminated alongside Tennis legend, Venus Williams, who was beat by a 15-Year-Old.
Osaka lost to Yulia Putintseva, 7-6 (4), 6-2. She most recently won back to back grand slam titles — the first in 10 years. Elsewhere 39 year-old Venus Williams, was bested by someone nearly 25 years her junior, Cori Gauff — 6-4, 6-4.
Serena Williams plays her first round tomorrow (July 2) against G. Gatto-Monticone. Let’s hope she wins so that we at least have one Williams on the tennis court at Wimbledon.
