Hanging in the balance is a possible recount in the race between Democratic Rep. Bob Etheridge and Republican challenger Renee Ellmers. According to unofficial results, Ellmers leads Etheridge by 1,646 votes.
Ellmers said she hopes that Etheridge will realize he can’t make up the votes and not ask for a recount. The State Board of Elections has until Nov. 23 to announce certified, final results.
