I really hate when a movie has so much hype that you know it can’t be as good as they say it is. It just can’t be right? Well, in most cases that is true, but in the case of Michael Jackson’s This Is It….it was worth all of the hype.
No matter what kind of Michael Jackson fan you are, you will really enjoy this movie. You want to get up and dance several times. You have to appreciate how talented he is and how much he will be missed For the most part, Michael moves like he did in his twenties. There a few times he moved a little slower and you can’t help but think gosh is this when he wasn’t feeling well? But then you realized that he’s over 50 and he’s still moving just as good as his background dancers. Amazing!
I must say, if I would have edited the footage, I would have edited a few things differently and taken out a few things. I would have started with the press conference then showed the dancer auditions then the “prayer” that they showed closer to the end at the beginning. The way some of the pieces were edited bothered me. I started to wonder if they forgot about stuff and added it end at the last minute. And the funny thing is that Kenny Ortega a movie director. He directed High School Musical 1, 2, & 3 plus The Cheetah Girls 2. Hum…not sure what happened. But even that doesn’t ruin the movie.
I loved how they showed Michael as the person in charge. He was very serious about his show, how his music was going to sound, the dance moves and everything that would make the concert great. He said he wanted to give the audience what they paid to see. And that he did.
By the end of the movie, you think this is the best concert that I’ll never see! I will say that I think they are going to do a part two. I know they taped a full dress rehearsal with all of the bells and whistles. If you don’t think so, just watch. Pay to see this movie? Heck yeah! I’d even pay full price. This Is It is one of the best movies this year!
