Anyone (in America) over the age of 15 can recall where they were on 9-11. And twenty years from today (5/2/11), I’m sure most Americans will remember exactly what they were doing when they heard that Osama Bin Laden was dead.
Yesterday President Obama made the announcement that Bin Laden had been killed. Since the announcement was made so late (11:50 ish), most people heard about it on their way to work today. (It was all over the morning talk shows). Twitter said that it experienced its highest sustained rate of tweets ever today.
Bin Laden’s body was dumped into the ocean in order to comply with Islamic tradition that the deceased must be conferred to his grave within 24 hours. I can resect his religion but this is going to lead to so many conspiracy theories (and they’ve already started).
