Earlier today, UNC officials released their official response to a NCAA Notice of Allegations involving the school’s football program.

The document says the school prides itself on compliance with NCAA rules, but, “The University acknowledges, however, that despite our efforts and expectations, major violations occurred in the football program.”

UNC says it will impose punishments on itself, including:

Vacating the 2008 and 2009 seasons, Losing three scholarships for the 2012-2013, 2013-2014, and 2014-2015 seasons (9 total), Two years of probation and a $50,000 fine.

The NCAA sent the 42-page notice in June detailing nine potential NCAA violations by the Tar Heel program. UNC was given until Monday to respond in writing, prior to the October hearing.
