The new movie about the life of Jackie Robinson scored big at the box office over the weekend. The new film “42” made about $27.3 million to land at the number one spot.
The Warner Bros. film beat out the latest installment in the “Scary Movie” franchise which opened in second place with $15.2 million. This was the smallest debut for the horror-comedy series.
Experts only expected “42” to do less than $20 million this weekend, but folks showed up and showed out to make it number one.
