There is no third party that people in need have to go through in order to get assistance from the facility. Any woman and child needing a place to stay come to the Salvation Army of Wake County and there’s no time limit set in place.

“We do things differently,” said Peter Donlon, Project CATCH Coordinator for the Center of Hope, “The way the Salvation Army does it is we actually don’t have a specific time frame.”

“We welcome them in and give them a couple of weeks to breathe and to relax because we understand that these folks are coming in from living in their cars, or in the streets, or with everyone they know.” Donlon said. “We don’t have them worry on day one about day ninety-one and what they’re going to do.” He adds that the Salvation Army has noticed that most of the people that feel comfortable in their stay and have taken time to develop themselves do not come back.

The Judy D. Zelnak Center of Hope is located at 1863 Capital Boulevard in Raleigh, North Carolina and its doors are open to anyone that needs assistance.
