A Harnett County resident was killed as a result of being struck by lightning Thursday evening while in a Cary parking lot.

Steven Bryan, 28, was reportedly struck around 8:50 p.m. while walking near Michaels in the Cary Crossroads Plaza.

Bryan was rushed to WakeMed hospital, where he later passed away. No one else suffered injuries during this occurrence.

Lightning also was the cause of several house fires across Wake County inflicting minor burn wounds.

Another Harnett County woman fell victim to lightning strikes as she was out walking her two dogs near Ray Road in the Spring Lake community.

Emergency crews revived the woman on scene before taking her to the hospital, officials said.

The dogs died as a result of the lightning strike.

Storms moved out of the area late Thursday, however reports have shown that the Carolinas may experience another round of severe weather bringing about heavy winds and large hail Friday night.
