Whoppi Goldberg and Raven Simone discussed the ongoing issue of former NAACP leader Rachel Dolezal pretending to be black on their show today.

The two hosts seemed to be willing to give Rachel a pass…

“If she wants to be black, she can be black,” said Goldberg, adding, “Look, just like people say, ‘I feel like a man, I feel like a woman, I feel like this.’ She wants to be a black woman, fine. Everything that comes with that she is prepared for. Okay.” Raven-Symone noted that “everybody has some type of African blood inside them,” and asked rhetorically, “And what makes a black person, just your skin?”

Rosie Perez also chimed in on the conversation, saying that part of the issue people had with Dolezal was that she not only lied about her race, but she supposedly also told a “lot of young back youths, ‘I know how you feel. I’ve been through blah, blah, blah.’” Perez added, “She doesn’t know. You can’t know.” Goldberg, however, countered, “But she’s passing as this woman for over five years. If this b*tch don’t know by now what’s it’s like, she’s never going to know.”

Co-host Michelle Collins also offered her opinion jokingly telling the audience, “If I would have known I could go black, think about how thin I would look black. An immediate 15 pounds off.” Collins felt the main issue in the Dolezal situation is that she “lied” about her race. She further offered, “I also don’t think you can be transracial.”
