Someone vandalized the Aretha Franklin’s mural in Detroit. Yep you read that right. The mural created by London-based artist, Richard Wilson as part of the annual Murals in the Market public art event. Detroit Free Press reported about the vandalizing.

The mural too 12 days to finish and had only been up for a week when the incident happen. The culprit threw black paint over the mural.

The mural is part of an exhibit supported by the Franklin estate which debuted in the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History in Detroit. Called,  “Think: A Tribute to the Queen of Soul,” the exhibit explores Franklin’s life and career. The exhibits will display different and rare artifacts like clothes, shoes, videos and photos. The exhibit will be on display until January 21, 2019.
