#TheCarters will not let their foot up off of our necks!! The power couple was recognized yesterday at the 2019 GLAAD Awards in LA with The Vanguard Award. This award is presented to people who have made a huge difference in promoting the acceptance of the LGBTQ community.
#JanetJackson , #KerryWashington , #WhoopiGoldberg and #JenniferLopez have all previously received this award. #JayZ took to the stage in a pink tuxedo along side his beautiful wife in her black tuxedo jacket dress.
If you’re not familiar, #Jay won the special recognition award last year for his song #Smile featuring his mother who actually came out as a lesbian. #Beyonce is one who let’s her support show publicly through her music videos and songs like #Formation , #711 and more. Beyonce dedicated the award to her Uncle Johnny who she described as “The Most Fabulous Gay Man” who helped raise her and her sister #Solange.
“We’re here to promote love for every human being and change starts with supporting the people closest to you, so let’s tell them that they are loved, let’s remind them they are beautiful, let’s speak out and protect them and parents. Let’s love our kids in their truest form. I hope that we continue to shift the stigmas in this community, especially the stigmas in black families”
