March 17th – Professor X of X-Clan died from complications associated with spinal meningitis in Brooklyn, New York, on this day in 2006.

Professor X, who was born Lumumba Carson, was the son of activist Sonny Carson who worked alongside Malcolm X in The Organization Of Afro-American Unity.

Professor X, also known as The Overseer, recorded with X-Clan on their first two albums; 1990’s “To The East, Blackwards” and 1992’s “Xodus.”

Professor X was also responsible for producing and organizing the 1993 anti-drug single “Close The Crackhouse Down” on Polydor Records.

“Close The Crackhouse Down” featured appearances by Yours Truly Chuck D, Digital Underground, Two Kings In A Cipher, Freedom Williams of C+C Music Factory, Wise Intelligent, Sister Souljah, Mickey Jarrett, Ex-Girlfriend, Brother J of X-Clan and Professor X himself.
