The killing of three people in Chapel Hill last night is causing outrage across the country and on social media.

The homicide victims were all Muslim and many suspect that the act was a hate crime. The victims have been identified as as Deah Shaddy Barakat, 23, his wife, Yusor Mohammad Abu-Salha, 21, and her sister, Razan Mohammad Abu-Salha, 19.

Police reports indicate gunshots were fired at an apartment complex at 5:11 on Tuesday. When officers arrived the bodies of the victims were found and pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect in the crime has been identified as 46-year-old Craig Stephen Hicks. Hicks turned himself in late Tuesday night and has since been charged with three counts of first degree murder.

Some suspect that the Hicks killed the three individuals over a parking space and not due to their religious beliefs.

Regardless of the reason behind it, three innocent lives have been lost. I just wanted to take a moment to honor those who were killed and give everyone a small glimpse into their lives via social media posts.

Deah Barakat’s Twitter account shows that he was concerned about religious hatred over recent months.
