A press conference was held earlier today to help answer some of the questions surrounding the death of music icon Prince Rogers Nelson. The Carver County Sheriff’s office explained what they know so far about how Prince died and ruled out any indication that the death was a suicide.

He also informed the reporters on scene that Prince was last time seen alive at 8 p.m. Wednesday night at Paisley Park. In response to a question about foul play being a factor, Olson said those details are still pending. “This was a tragedy for all of us,” Olson said. “For us, he’s a community member and good neighbor. To his family, he is a loved one. In life, he was very private person, we’re going to continue to respect privacy and dignity and we hope you all will respect that as well.”

A spokesperson for the Midwest Medical Examiner’s office spoke about what role drugs may have played in the singer’s death.

The press conference also included a spokesperson for the Midwest Medical Examiner by the name of Martha Weaver who is working on the ongoing investigation and autopsy. Weaver said there is no information available about the role of drugs or overdosing in Prince’s death. Currently, an autopsy is being performed to determine exactly what caused his death. Unfortunately, those results will not be available for days or even weeks. We will continue to update you with any information as it becomes available.

This story is still developing.
